Steve Pearl
Steve Salisian creates a variety of functional stoneware and porcelain ceramics, in particular teapots.  His glazes cover a range of earth tones, including rich shades of ochre, sienna, and  burnt umber.  His pieces are roughly formed, giving them a slightly primitive quality.  His pieces are  enhanced with delightful decorative details.  Handles end in playful spirals.  Lids and spouts are engraved or embossed with freeform abstract patterns.

Steve Pearl's hand colored photographs include images from his travels, thoughtful still lives, and explorations of the female form.  His images are both nostalgic and erotic. Coy, mischievous women beckon the viewer to enter their pastel tinted world.  Steve colors his images in muted, carefully selected ranges of color.  The palette he chooses accentuates the mood of the photograph.  Steve adds color to his images using light washes of oil based pigments applied with cotton swabs.
