Bonnie Britton
Bonnie Britton is an accomplished weaver and papermaker.  Her rug designs are artfully balanced and expertly crafted.  Her work is influenced by both ancient Native American styles, and modern abstract designs.  Her palette tends toward earth tones and naturalistic colors.  Her color choices are similar to those of weavings of the American Southwest, and one cannot help but think of Navaho weaving when viewing her work.  Her style diverges from the Native American tradition in her choice of linear abtract patterns more reminiscent of constructivist graphic design than ancient motifs.  Bonnie's work with hand made paper is influenced by the weathered layering of ancient Peruvian mummies.  Among the translucent layers of handmade paper, Bonnie accents her work with embedded bits of wood, gold leaf, and other organic materials.
