Sean Monaghan
The bronze, aluminum, and glass sculpture of Sean Monaghan has a definite nautical theme.    His pieces make specific references to the sea, and more subtle references to the fittings and machinery of oceangoing vessels.  His pieces remind the viewer of sextants, globes, and compasses.  They are sturdy and compact, and immediately give the impression that they could be functional instruments, mounted on the deck of a transatlantic steamer.

This water fountain, complete with emerging octopus tentacle and scalloped basin, would be a wonderful addition to any waterfront park or structure. Sean's work is bold, rugged, and well designed.  His aesthetic is perfectly suited for the creation of artistic fixtures for public spaces, and grand scale architectural detailing.
Is it a valve?  No! It's a sculpture.  Many of Sean's pieces are illuminated, increasing the feeling they they are working mechanisms.
