ITXC, in keeping with its international involvement in global communications, sees fine art as an important part of the communication process. The featured artists, Susumu Endo, Yoshikatsu Tamekane, and Tanya Kohn, are from Japan and Mexico.

"I am pleased that ITXC has the opportunity to show these examples of fine art and that it comes from a local fine arts gallery," said Mary Evslin, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Success at ITXC Corp. "This is a wonderful opportunity for ITXC and a local business to combine their efforts for the benefit of everyone who works at or visits ITXC’s offices."

Mary Lou Bock, Director and Curator of The Williams Gallery said, "By showing this collection at ITXC, the employees and visitors are able to experience fine art right in the workplace."

About the Artists:

YOSHIKATSU TAMEKANE is known for the addition of rich textural qualities to his woodblock images. This, he achieves, through the use of the woodblock/collagraph (an intaglio printing method from a plate to which pieces of cardboard or other material are applied). The raised surfaces are inked and printed. The artist often incorporates gold and silver leaf, as well as more muted coloring, to create dynamic images of depth and mystery.

The woodblocks of Tamekane explore a variety of themes, including Time and Space. Tamekane explains: "I savor the past and also look forward to the next century as a time of hope and advancement for the human spirit".

Born in 1959, Mr. Tamekane studied at Sokei Academy of Fine Arts. He is a member of the Japan Print Association and has shown 6 consecutive years in the prestigious CWAJ Print Show. His art is in the collection of Bibliotheque National, Paris; Osaka Contemporary Art Center; Agency for Cultural Affairs, Tokyo; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia; The Williams Collection, Princeton, NJ and numerous private and corporate collections.

SUSUMU ENDO has been called mysterious, a conjurer, a magician. His photographic images seem not of this world, but employ a skill and beauty that challenge our sense of reality.

"My basic concept of design is ‘space and space.’ I feel there are different levels of consciousness that we can have of space, all coexisting. This is the concept that drives all the work I create. My main theme is the relationship of two different dimensions in space: the real and the imaginary. I feel a strong image can give us entrance to the other, unseen world, says Endo." (from "Designers on Mac", pub.1992)

After years of use of manual photographic techniques, in 1982, Endo began allowing a computer system to aid in the technically complex task of creating his photographic works.

TANYA KOHN was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and later emigrated to Ecuador. She studied plastic arts in Ecuador, the U.S.A., Switzerland and France, following which she was invited by the International Organization for Cultural Promotion of the Mexican Foreign Relations Ministry to present her first show in Mexico, where she subsequently took up permanent residency. She has shown extensively in Museums throughout Mexico and South America.

The re-occurring theme of Kohn's paintings is nature: earth, sea , sky, or water. Both in content and technique, her art reflects a spiritual quality in which the viewer is invited in to become a spectator. In her canvases and works on paper, Kohn uses and often combines a variety of mediums and techniques (oil, mixed-media, serigraph, collage) to realize her intention. Of her work she says, "Real, authentic artistic expression is, above all, introspection. It is an encounter with ones self. It is an intent to communicate something profound and yet personal."
