Museum of Art and History

McPherson Center

705 Front Street

Santa Cruz, CA 95060

In 1996 Santa Cruz County merged its art and history museums and the MAH was formed. The museum offers rotating shows in four galleries, an education program, a historical archive, and a museum store.  Current exhibitions include "Watermark" an exhibition of works by members of the National Watercolor Society, and "Picks, Plows, and Potatoes", a historical look at Santa Cruz in the days of the California Gold Rush.

The museum is a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Pacific avenue, and is a great place to spend an afternoon before dining or shopping in the vital Santa Cruz city center.

If you want to support art culture in Santa Cruz, you can join the museum!  Membership  entitles you to invitations to members only exhibitions and 10% off in the Museum store.

Current exhibitions include :

Survey: Two Artists at Mid-Career: Joel Leivick and Karen Thuesen Massaro
Happy Birthday Santa Cruz County! Celebrating 150 Years

Picks, Plows, and Potatoes: The Santa Cruz Region During the Gold Rush
