Half Way to Half Dome
Oil on wood, 14x14
This highly textured, and boldly rendered scene evokes the joy of the rich diversity of forms in nature.  The painting is representational, clearly portraying a boulder strew mountain forest, but is also expressionistic. The thick, richly colored brush strokes, and the expressiveness of each bold mark, seems to be a celebration of the rich diversity of forms that the natural world has to offer.  The naturalistic palette, and the lightly stained, heavy wooden frame, enhance the painting's naturalistic theme.
